Representation of London through ‘Love Actually' (2003)

Love Actually (2003) Directed by Richard Curtis [DVD] UK, USA and France : Universal Pictures

'Love Actually' is a Romantic Comedy which is based all around London, for example there are scenes that are shot in Canary Wharf, Trafalgar Square, Isle Of Dogs and London Heathrow airport. This film follow 8 different people showing how they all each find love, weather that be with a partner or a family member. Compared to other films which are based around London it give off a very different view on the city making it seem a more romantic place from where people can find love, where as films like 'Attack The Block' it makes London seem a more ghetto area. The characters within the film 'Love Actually' are also very well spoken which makes them seem more high class.

This is a clip of a scene in the film of 'The Prime Minister' dancing around in his house, but then gets caught by his secretary, this shows that even though he may be high class he can still have fun. Yet again representing London to be more humorous and care free. Yet the secretary doesn't seem to find the dancing funny and seems to be more serious, which could represent working class people to be less humorous.
