Representation of West London through 'Made In Chelsea' (2011-Present)

Made in Chelsea is a BAFTA award winning reality television series on E4, the series follows the lives of a group of young adults from the area of West London. The show follows the group of young adults as they travel, party, spend money and it seems rarely work.

The group that the show focuses around is very privileged and seems to have no worries when it comes to spending and showing off the wealth that all of them have. Many of the cast has inherited their money from their parents, for example one cast member is the heir to McVitie's. The cast is hardly ever seen doing a hard days work, the show mainly focuses around their love lives and the dramas that they have due to cheating and friendships falling apart.

The cast is continuously shown to be spending money on very expensive holidays to the likes of South Africa, Venice, Saint-Tropez and so on, and on very expensive clothes and cars. They have even created spin of shows such as Made in Chelsea NYC, when the cast done as series over in New York City.

Made in Chelsea makes young adults that come from West London seem to be bratty trust fund kids, that even though they have good educations and are well off when it comes to money they would rather spend their time on holiday doing nothing spending their parents money, getting drunk and continuously causing drama without any thought of the consequences. Then rather doing something productive with their time such as doing a days work. There are some cast members who don't feed into this stereotype and do actually have jobs and businesses of their own but you are not shown a lot of this side to the cast.
